Letter from Jhonatan’s Church

I received this letter from Jhonatan’s church in El Salvador.

Dear Alisa, May God bless you. My name is Victor Manuel Antonio Torres Diaz. I have the honor of greeting you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am the representative of Elis Christian Mission in Sonsonate, El Salvador. I minister to Jhonatan at the Caminando de la Mano con Jesús Child Development Center.

I want to thank you for your great love you give to Jhonatan in our Center. Thanks to your prayers and support we can transform our children’s lives.

God is working in our children’s lives. They live in different communities close to our church. In those communities they face different problems and we are praying that God stops violence and makes our children’s communities safe. We work hard every day in order to release our children from spiritual, physical, social, and emotional poverty in the name of Jesus Christ.

The vision of our church is focused on the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have to go to villages, streets, neighborhoods, and communities proclaiming that our Lord Jesus is the only one who can transform the lives of men, women, and children. Through evangelism and support of the Center our activities are aimed at making our children’s parents know Jesus and their lives are transformed by the Holy Spirit.

I cry for joy when I see children and their families giving their hearts to Jesus and receiving Him as their personal savior. This year 50 children have received Jesus and 10 children have been baptized so far. When I listen to them, I realize what God is doing in them. They are different than other children in our community.

We have been blessed with the participation in many activities and I am amazed to see how God used the talent of our children who are in the Compassion National Choir. Other children play musical instruments in our church.

Thanks to God, in our church there are many ministries to glorify the name of God. We evangelize through home groups in different communities where our children and their families attend.

I want to thank you so much for being the sponsor of Jhonatan. I tell you that all the children get so excited when they receive a sponsor letter. The correspondence from sponsors is very important for children, they keep every letter they receive and place it in a special place. They save all letters they have received and become part of their valuable belongings. Every day they ask to the coordinator if they have received a letter. It is something very important for them.

At the beginning of this letter I introduced myself as a representative of our church because our dear Pastor passed away on February 3rd, 2014. That was a hard time for the members of our church and many children. However, we remember how he worked hard to release children from poverty in the name of Jesus.

I hope with all my heart that God rewards you for praying for Jhonatan in this Center. i ask you to never stop praying for the Center, tutors, our children, our children’s families, and our church, that God always supports this mission to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thank you so much for all you do to glorify God. I remind you that all you do in the earth will be rewarded in the heaven.

May God bless you, Sincerely, Victor Manuel Antonio Torres Diaz

Letter from Génecis’ Pastor

This letter is from Génecis’ paster in Colombia.

Dear Alisa, My name is Miriam Orozco, and I am pastor associated with the Child Development Center “Cielo Nuevo y Tierra Nueva” that Génecis attends. In our church we are really grateful for the support you are giving to Génecis. We fervently pray to God and thank Him for all of our children who have found special support in a person like you.

We are located on a mountain in a neighborhood with a few path roads, with tropical weather all year long. This area needs the implementation of publics services (like potable water, sewage system, streetlights) and better housing. The lack of it affects the health of children; there are many cases of illness and it alters their personal hygiene. We are praying to God for this situation to change soon. I know He will help us and will guide us to offer the inhabitants a better quality of life.

Many children live a reality that prevents them from having a thorough development and we would like to change this reality as soon as possible. They are surrounded by drug addictions, alcoholism, crime, and absence of the parents. The lack of interest from parents drives teenagers to seem haven in bad company, leading to teenage pregnancy and young boys involved in crime and ending up in jail. The high unemployment rate in the parents puts the children in risk of malnutrition.

For us it was a huge joy to find in Compassion a helping hand. The objective of our ministry is to work for the future of our children. So far, we have had around 160 children registered in the project.

I can’t even explain how happy the project makes the parents of the children. It is amazing to see their grateful faces because their children have the possibility of a better future than theirs, and that today their children enjoy education and medical checkups. The children in the center learn how to keep proper hygiene habits, how to relate to others by respecting the rights of the people around them, and how to protect the environment by promoting a recycling culture. The happiness of the children when they come to the center is noticeable.

We have seen how the children’s attitudes start to change and we are excited that they understand what we teach them about the love of God and to be grateful for what He does for us every day. During this time we have seen the glory of God, and how the parents of the children, who never thought they would come to our church, have come here seeking the help of God.

My biggest dream is that the children of the program get to know God from an early age so that they turn to Him for help as they grow older. We pray day after day for these children to grow into people who can show the love of God by helping others. I ask you please to pray for all of us here at the church and center for God to help us be faithful with the commitment we made before Him and before the community.

For us it is very important that you continue being part of our family. Let me tell you that your letters to Génecis hold a meaningful importance. Every letter sponsors send to these children makes them so happy because they understand that their sponsor loves them and wants great things for their lives. It gives these children hope and encouragement.

We pray for our sponsors every day and we hope God continues to shine over your lives, showering you with the power and love only He can give. Once again, I thank you very much for helping us turn this dream into a reality. You are a great blessing.

In Christ, Miriam Orozco

Letter from Jose’s Pastor

I received this letter from Jose’s pastor in El Salvador.

Jose current

Dear Alisa, May or Lord Jesus Christ bless you greatly. May name is Reverand Rolando Ernesto Doradea Bustamante. I am the pastor of Tabernáculo Bíblico Bautista Comasagua and the Huellitas de Jesus Children Development Center ministering to Jose Geovany.

Thank you for loving and sponsoring Jose. It is a great blessing for him. This ministry is located in a picturesque village located on the top of a very important mountain range called Cordillera del Bálsamo. Our children grow up surrounded by pine trees and coffee trees. I am sure you have tried delicious coffee made of these coffee beans.

Even though there is richness of vegetation in our village, people are very poor. Most of the inhabitants lack education so that they have no steady job and cannot support their families. They do not live in decent houses and there are sicknesses and children’s malnutrition. our inhabitants are very vulnerable, especially our children.

Therefore, the valuable contribution of Compassion International helps up so much to supply the needs of our community. We help them in different ways. We give our children food and clothes. We also generate jobs for the members of our church who serve in our ministries. However our noblest work is to make our children accept Jesus Christ in their hearts.

Our children strengthen their spiritual lives and value from the letters they receive from sponsors. These letters bring such joy and happiness and excitement. They feel loved and cared for and encouraged. This relationship created through letter writing is most beneficial. These letters have blessed our children more than you can imagine. It is important that sponsors write to their children. The children also benefit greatly and enjoy sponsor visits. This year we enjoyed a group visit and the children had so much fun.

As our community faces big problems every day, our vision is to make a new Comasagua with Christian citizens who change their environment for good. I am sure it will come true as long as we have faith in our Lord.

I ask you to continue to pray for us. I ask you to pray especially that our Lord Jesus Christ continues to use our lives to reach more people, show them the kingdom of Heaven, and give food, clothes, shoes, and medicine to our children.

Finally, we thank you for your valuable support to Jose. We owe you your great love and compassion you show us day after day, minute after minute, and second after second. We ask you to pray for us. Remember  that we are praying for you.

Your servant in Jesus Christ, Pastor Rolando Ernesto Doradea Bustamante

Letter from Jesús’ Pastor

Here is a letter from Jesús’ pastor in Peru.

Dear Alisa, My name is Ricardo Rodriguez Purisaca. I am the pastor of Nazareno church where the ministry of children Sembrando Futuro Child Development Center works. This is the place where your sponsored child attends. This center is located in the city of Lambayeque region of Peru.

I want to express my gratitude for the gesture of love with which you identify yourself towards the supportive help on children in extreme poverty who participate in this ministry so that every sponsored child can be assisted the best way in the four areas of development like the physical, spiritual, cognitive, and socio-emotional ones. Your sponsorship of Jesús David does so much and we know that your attitude will be rewarded by our Creator and His lovely son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The city where our church is located is the agricultural area where they sow rice, corn, sugarcane and all kinds of vegetable stews. This year we had to face the drought in the beginning when we sowed rice. Lots of sown field was dried, but thank God the rain came on time and we could save part of what had been sown.

I want to tell you that the children are very excited about coming to the center as they see a great difference of attention to them. We give them affection here. The activities they do in the center are: they play with their classmates, they have their time with God, and they study a subject called Learning for Life. They get ready to have lunch and then they pray for their lunch. They brush their teeth and pray to say goodbye. What we teach children in the center has helped their attitude of life and their parents are very thankful for the teaching they receive thanks to sponsorship.

At the center, the children are taught to strengthen their spiritual life. They are centers of great blessing on their lives. They are also taught knowledge and abilities for their future life with a book guide called My Plan for Tomorrow through which they learn to express their attitude in their life circumstances. They learn to value and they overcome their defects. It has been and is still an impact on their center in our community because our church has become well-known and we have even had the visit of the mayor and the visit of a congressperson of the Republic.

Thanks for the communication you have with Jesús David through the letters and presents you send. The children feel extremely happy when they get your letters. They are taught and encouraged to pray to God in their hearts for their sponsors, their families, their health, and their work. At the same time, let me encourage you to have a continuous communication through letters with Jesús David. Thank God we had the visit of two sponsors. The children and their families were so glad to welcome the sponsors with excitement because they were visitors. We are waiting for the moment and the proper time in which our God will bless you so that you can visit us and Jesús David in our city. Thanks again for your great gesture of love. I wish you many blessings upon your personal life and family. May our Creator always pour out His blessing upon the goals you have set!

Blessings, Ricardo Rodriguez Purisaca

First Letter from Jesús

I was so excited to receive my first letter from Jesús! I’ve great experiences with my other kids in Peru, and Jesús sent a wonderful first letter too, that was written just 13 days before I received it! At just 7 years old, he is already writing his own letters and writes very well.

Jesús is 7 and lives in Peru

The letter uses the My Family template. He has 4 siblings, and lists their names, and he lives in the city. At home, his mom does the cooking. Jesús helps out with sweeping, making his bed, and looking after his siblings. He spends the most time with his mom and his siblings. The letter says “I’m doing well with my family. I want to thank you for the letter, pictures, and the minions drawing to color. Thanks. I love Jesus. I have a white shirt I got for Christmas. School already started. I’d like to know how you’re doing. I ask you to pray for my studies and my mom who is working in a house. I say bye with a big hug and kiss. Jesús”

So cute!!
